Gazprom, Mongolian ink memorandum of collaboration in gas, oil sector

(MENAFN) Russia’s state-owned energy company Gazprom and the Mongolian government have formalized a memorandum to collaborate in the oil and gas sector during a delegation visit to Ulaanbaatar, according to reports.

Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller led the working delegation, meeting with President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, Prime Minister Gombojavyn Zandanshatar, and Deputy Prime Minister Sainbuyangiin Amarsaykhan.

“In the presence of President Khurelsukh, Alexey Miller and Sainbuyangiin Amarsaykhan signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Government of Mongolia and Gazprom. The document is aimed at developing a partnership in the gas and oil sector,” Gazprom stated.

The discussions in the Mongolian capital centered on potential joint initiatives in the energy field, with both parties emphasizing long-term opportunities for cooperation in natural gas.

Mongolia holds a strategic role in regional energy transit, particularly regarding the planned “Power of Siberia-2” pipeline, which is expected to connect Russia and China through Mongolian territory.
