Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Mongolia’s Bayankhongor

(MENAFN) An earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale shook the southwestern Mongolian province of Bayankhongor at 4:42 p.m. local time on Tuesday, according to the country’s Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics.

The tremor’s epicenter was located 37 kilometers southwest of Bogd soum, an administrative subdivision of Bayankhongor. It was initially recorded at 45.01 degrees north latitude and 100.39 degrees east longitude, the institute noted in its statement.

The quake was felt throughout the province, though authorities reported there was no immediate evidence of damage.
